Buck Roofing Answers Common Roofing FAQ

Buck Roofing provides all types of residential roofing and commercial roofing services throughout the Kansas City, Lawrence, and Manhattan, Kansas areas. These roofing services include complete roof replacements, new construction roof installation, and roof repairs. Additionally, we install gutters and siding.

There are several signs that could indicate the need for a new roof. The signs include missing, cracked, or curling shingles, wind or hail damage, rusted or missing flashing, evidence of leaks or stains on interior walls or ceilings, unexplained mold inside your house, or ceramic granules in your gutter. Additionally, if your residential roof is more than 15 years old, we recommend scheduling a complimentary roof inspection.

No, not necessarily. While a leak in your roof might indicate that your current roof is failing and needs replacement, this isn’t always the case. In some instances, it may be possible to fix a roof leak with a simple roof leak repair or by replacing only a segment of your roof. If you have a leak in your roof, call us and one of our technicians will come out and perform a roof inspection to determine if you need a new roof or just a repair.

Most roof leaks are caused by weathering and wind damage to the flashing surrounding the roof, chimney, or air vents. Flashing problems are typically the result of incorrect installation.

The roofing installation duration depends on the size of your roof and how many layers need to be removed. However, we are typically able to complete a new roof replacement in 1-3 days.

No roof is maintenance free, due to the different seasons and the weather that they each bring, natural wear and tear happens. Also, depending on trees and critters in your area, damage can occur. Think of a roof like an automobile, in the 20 years of its life, frequent maintenance must be performed to keep it operating as it should.
If strong storms have been through the area, we recommend having an inspection. Storms can cause damage to shingles that may not be apparent right away. Some insurance companies have a deadline from the date of storm to open a claim, so having a licensed and insured local contractor inspect the exterior of the property and roof for damage after the storm is critical. When Kansas City storm damage hits your roof, call Buck Roofing and we’ll be happy to come inspect your roof.
Call your insurance company and let them know you want to open a claim for roof damage so they will send out an adjuster to check the property. The adjuster will decide if there is enough damage to pay a claim. Buck Roofing will work with the insurance company to restore your property to its original condition.
Not necessarily, because a company doing the work for the lowest price might be cutting corners or not replacing everything the insurance company is paying for. Additionally, you have the right to choose any company you would like to perform the work. It’s important to choose a local contractor that you trust and one that has the expertise to work with your insurance company to replace your roof.
No. Buck Roofing will assist you with your claim from start to finish. Our claims management is a complimentary service we provide to all our roofing customers. Buck Roofing will make sure that you are taken care of throughout your claim process. Our staff will work directly with your insurance company to make the claims process straightforward and as stress free as possible.

While this is rare, it does happen from time and time. Typically, our estimate should be the same as the insurance adjusters, but it may also be higher when we find items that the insurance didn’t notice or initially approve. When this happens, Buck Roofing will work with you and your insurance to get things squared away.

Please Note:
It is illegal for a homeowner to profit from an insurance claim, and it is illegal for contractors in Missouri to offer to pay a homeowner’s insurance deductibles on a claim. If a contractor tells you otherwise, they may be committing insurance fraud.
